SAN JUAN RIVER
The San Juan River is an 84 mile river from Bluff to Clay Hills, Utah. The Navajo Reservation lies on the left bank of the river as well as the Montezuma Creek launch point. Camping on the south bank of the river requires a permit from the Navajo Nation. The south bank also lies within Lake Powell Navajo Tribal Park from Mexican Hat and westward.
Permits are required for both hiking and camping on the Navajo Reservation. There are Navajo families who live nearby, so please camp with respect to the fragile environment and the privacy of the Navajo families. view Map *general location
