Four Corners Monument Close to Completion
WINDOW ROCK, Ariz. – Navajo Parks and Recreation Department announced that reconstruction of the Four Corners Monument is getting close to completion. The project, which began in May, is about 70% complete and should be opened to the public by the beginning of August.
Currently the monument is closed for construction Monday through Thursday, but it is open to vendors Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Visitors can see the monument over the weekend as well, however it is fenced off until all construction is finalized.
While the monument will maintain its same location, it will have a different look, as the monument will be shaped like a giant bowl.
The Four Corners Monument is the only place in the United States where four states intersect at one point: Arizona, New Mexico, Utah and Colorado. The location is very remote, but there are picnic tables and self-contained restrooms available.
